٢٩ - ٱلْعَنْكَبُوت

29 - Al-Ankabut

اِنَّمَا تَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللہِ اَوْثَانًا وَّتَخْلُقُوْنَ اِفْكًا۝۰ۭ اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ تَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللہِ لَا يَمْلِكُوْنَ لَكُمْ رِزْقًا فَابْتَغُوْا عِنْدَ اللہِ الرِّزْقَ وَاعْبُدُوْہُ وَاشْكُرُوْا لَہٗ۝۰ۭ اِلَيْہِ تُرْجَعُوْنَ۝۱۷
Innama taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi awthanan watakhluqoona ifkan inna allatheena taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi la yamlikoona lakum rizqan faibtaghoo AAinda Allahi alrrizqa waoAAbudoohu waoshkuroo lahu ilayhi turjaAAoona

You worship idols in place of God and invent lies. Surely those you worship other than God have no power over your means of livelihood. So seek your sustenance from God, and worship Him and give Him thanks. To Him will you be brought back in the end.

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (ye serve instead of allah only idols) stones, (and ye only invent a lie) carving with your own hand what you worship beside allah. (lo! those whom ye serve instead of allah) of idols (own no provision for you) they are unable to provide your sustenance. (so seek your provision from allah, and serve him) declare his divine oneness, (and give thanks unto him) through the profession of allah's divine oneness, ((for) unto him ye will be brought back) after death and he will reward each according to his works.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : what you worship besides god, that is, other than him, are only graven images and you fabricate a calumny, you speak lies [such as]: ‘[these] graven images are god’s partners’. truly those whom you worship besides god have no power to provide for you. so seek your provision from god, request it from him, and worship him, and be thankful to him; to him you shall be returned.

Sahl al-Tustari

تفسير : …so seek your provision from god…he said:seek provision (rizq) through trust (tawakkul) not through earning (kasb), for seeking provisionthrough earning is the way of the generality (ʿawāmm). it was related of jesus son of mary <img border="0" src="images/alyhialsalam.jpg" width="34" height="19"> that he said, ‘truly i say to you, neither do you want the world, nor the hereafter.’ they said, ‘please explain that to us, o prophet of god, for we previouslythought that we only wanted one of them.’ he said, ‘if you obey the lord of the world, in whose hands are the keys to its coffers, he will give it to you. likewise, if you obey the lord of the hereafter he will give it to you. however, neither do you want the latter nor the former.’ his words, exalted is he:
