Verse. 3358

٢٩ - ٱلْعَنْكَبُوت

29 - Al-Ankabut

وَاِنْ تُكَذِّبُوْا فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ اُمَمٌ مِّنْ قَبْلِكُمْ۝۰ۭ وَمَا عَلَي الرَّسُوْلِ اِلَّا الْبَلٰغُ الْمُبِيْنُ۝۱۸
Wain tukaththiboo faqad kaththaba omamun min qablikum wama AAala alrrasooli illa albalaghu almubeenu

But if you deny, then many a people have denied before you. The duty of the apostle is to convey the message clearly."

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (but if ye deny) the message brought by muhammad (pbuh) (then nations have denied before you) the messages brought by their messengers and we destroyed them as a consequence. (the messenger is only to convey (the message) plainly) on behalf of allah in a language they understand.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : but if you deny, that is, if you deny me, o people of mecca, then [many] communities have denied before you, that is, before my time; and the messenger’s duty is only to communicate [the message] clearly’. both stories are meant to comfort the prophet (s). and regarding his people, god, exalted be he, says:
