٣ - آلِ عِمْرَان

3 - Al-Imran

قَالَتْ رَبِّ اَنّٰى يَكُوْنُ لِيْ وَلَدٌ وَّلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِىْ بَشَرٌ۝۰ۭ قَالَ كَذٰلِكِ اللہُ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاۗءُ۝۰ۭ اِذَا قَضٰۗى اَمْرًا فَاِنَّمَا يَقُوْلُ لَہٗ كُنْ فَيَكُوْنُ۝۴۷
Qalat rabbi anna yakoonu lee waladun walam yamsasnee basharun qala kathaliki Allahu yakhluqu ma yashao itha qada amran fainnama yaqoolu lahu kun fayakoonu

Ahmed Ali

She said: "How can I have a son, O Lord, when no man has touched me?" He said: "That is how God creates what He wills. When He decrees a thing, He says 'Be', and it is.

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (she said: my lord!) mary said to gabriel: o master!: (how can i have a child) how is it possible for me to have a child (when no mortal hath touched me?) lawfully or unlawfully? (he) gabriel (said: so (it will be)) as i have told you. (allah createth what he will. if he decreeth a thing) if he wills to create a son from you without a father, (he saith unto it only: be! and it is) a son without a father.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : she said, ‘lord, how shall i have a child when no mortal has touched me?’, neither through conjugality or otherwise; he said, the command, ‘it is such, that god will create from you a child without a father. god creates what he will. when he decrees a thing, willing its creation, he says to it only: “be”, and it is, that is, [and] ‘he is’.

Sahl al-Tustari

تفسير : …‘even so. god creates what he will. when he decrees a thing, he says to it only: “be” and it is.’ he [sahl] said:when there is something in his pre-eternal knowledge that he wishes to bring to light, he says to it ‘be’ and it is. it has been said [in these lines of poetry]:he decreed, before creating the creation, all that he would create: created beings, none of whose affairs are hidden from him, [nor]their desires, [nor their] intimate secrets, [nor] that which their hearts enclose. and [he decreed] what was [in] their minds prior to their desire.his words:
