٣٤ - سَبَأ

34 - Saba

قُلْ اِنَّمَاۗ اَعِظُكُمْ بِوَاحِدَۃٍ۝۰ۚ اَنْ تَقُوْمُوْا لِلہِ مَثْنٰى وَفُرَادٰى ثُمَّ تَتَفَكَّرُوْا۝۰ۣ مَا بِصَاحِبِكُمْ مِّنْ جِنَّۃٍ۝۰ۭ اِنْ ہُوَاِلَّا نَذِيْرٌ لَّكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيْدٍ۝۴۶
Qul innama aAAithukum biwahidatin an taqoomoo lillahi mathna wafurada thumma tatafakkaroo ma bisahibikum min jinnatin in huwa illa natheerun lakum bayna yaday AAathabin shadeedin


Ahmed Ali

Say: "I urge upon you only one thing: Stand up for God two by two or one by one, and think and reflect!" There is no madness about your companion. He is a warner against the dreadful affliction (that awaits).



'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (say) to the disbelievers of mecca, o muhammad: (i exhort you unto one thing only) with “there is no deity save allah”: (that ye awake, for allah's sake, by twos and singly, and then reflect) upon whether muhammad (pbuh) is a magician, fortune teller, a liar or madman: (there is no madness in your comrade) in your prophet. (he) muhammad (pbuh) (is naught else than a warner) a warning messenger (unto you in face of a terrific doom) on the day of judgement if you reject faith.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : say: ‘i will give you just one [piece of] admonition: namely, that you rise up for god, in other words, for his sake, in twos and individually, and then reflect: and realise [that], there is no madness in your companion, muhammad (s). he is just a warner to you before [the befalling of] a severe chastisement’, in the hereafter, if you disobey him.

Sahl al-Tustari

تفسير : say, ‘i will give you [one] admonition: that you stand before god, in twos and singly...’he said:the reckoning on the day of resurrection is [an appraisal of] four things: veracity (ṣidq) in speech, sincerity (ikhlāṣ) in actions, rectitude (istiqāma) with god in all affairs, and heedfulness(murāqaba) of god in every situation. but, god, glorified and exalted is he, knows best. his words, exalted is he:
