47 - Muhammad

اَفَمَنْ كَانَ عَلٰي بَيِّنَۃٍ مِّنْ رَّبِّہٖ كَمَنْ زُيِّنَ لَہٗ سُوْۗءُ عَمَلِہٖ وَاتَّبَعُوْۗا اَہْوَاۗءَہُمْ۝۱۴
Afaman kana AAala bayyinatin min rabbihi kaman zuyyina lahu sooo AAamalihi waittabaAAoo ahwaahum

Can one who stands on a clear proof from his Lord, be like one enamoured of his evil deeds and follows his inane desires?

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (is he who relieth on a clear proof) and a religion (from his lord) i.e. muhammad (pbuh) (like those for whom the evil that they do is beautified) like him whose evil works are beautified, i.e. abu jahl (while they follow their own lusts) through the worship of idols?

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : is he who follows a clear sign, a definitive argument and proof, from his lord, and these are the believers, like those whose evil deeds have been adorned for them, so that they see them as fair [deeds], and these are the disbelievers of mecca, and who follow their desires?, by worshipping graven images. in other words, there is no similarity between the two.

Sahl al-Tustari

تفسير : is he who follows a clear sign from his lord…?he said:the believer has a clear explanation (bayān) from his lord and whoever has a clear proof (bayyina) from his lord adheres to following the established ways of the prophet (sunan).his words, exalted is he: know, then, that there is no god but god…he said:all people are dead except those who know (ʿulamāʾ), and for this reason he summoned his prophet <img border="0" src="images/salatonmassenger.jpg" width="24" height="22"> to the abode of life (maḥall al-ḥayāt), through knowledge (ʿilm), with his words: know…his words:
