٩ - ٱلتَّوْبَة

9 - At-Tawba

يٰۗاَيُّھَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا قَاتِلُوا الَّذِيْنَ يَلُوْنَكُمْ مِّنَ الْكُفَّارِ وَلْيَجِدُوْا فِيْكُمْ غِلْظَۃً۝۰ۭ وَاعْلَمُوْۗا اَنَّ اللہَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ۝۱۲۳
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo qatiloo allatheena yaloonakum mina alkuffari walyajidoo feekum ghilthatan waiAAlamoo anna Allaha maAAa almuttaqeena

Ahmed Ali

O believers, fight the unbelievers around you, and let them realise that you are firm: Remember, God is with those who are pious and obedient to Him.

123

وَاِذَا مَاۗ اُنْزِلَتْ سُوْرَۃٌ فَمِنْھُمْ مَّنْ يَّقُوْلُ اَيُّكُمْ زَادَتْہُ ہٰذِہٖۗ اِيْمَانًا۝۰ۚ فَاَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا فَزَادَتْھُمْ اِيْمَانًا وَّھُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُوْنَ۝۱۲۴
Waitha ma onzilat sooratun faminhum man yaqoolu ayyukum zadathu hathihi eemanan faamma allatheena amanoo fazadathum eemanan wahum yastabshiroona

Ahmed Ali

When a Surah is revealed some of them remark: "Whose faith among you has it increased?" It does increase the faith of those who believe, and they rejoice.

124

وَاَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ فِيْ قُلُوْبِہِمْ مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَتْھُمْ رِجْسًا اِلٰى رِجْسِہِمْ وَمَاتُوْا وَھُمْ كٰفِرُوْنَ۝۱۲۵
Waamma allatheena fee quloobihim maradun fazadathum rijsan ila rijsihim wamatoo wahum kafiroona

Ahmed Ali

But it adds disbelief to disbelief for those whose hearts are filled with doubt, and they die disbelieving.

125

اَوَلَا يَرَوْنَ اَنَّھُمْ يُفْتَنُوْنَ فِيْ كُلِّ عَامٍ مَّرَّۃً اَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ لَا يَتُوْبُوْنَ وَلَا ھُمْ يَذَّكَّرُوْنَ۝۱۲۶
Awala yarawna annahum yuftanoona fee kulli AAamin marratan aw marratayni thumma la yatooboona wala hum yaththakkaroona

Do they not know that they are tried every year once or twice? Even then they do not repent and take heed.

126

وَاِذَا مَاۗ اُنْزِلَتْ سُوْرَۃٌ نَّظَرَ بَعْضُھُمْ اِلٰى بَعْضٍ۝۰ۭ ہَلْ يَرٰىكُمْ مِّنْ اَحَدٍ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوْا۝۰ۭ صَرَفَ اللہُ قُلُوْبَھُمْ بِاَنَّھُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَہُوْنَ۝۱۲۷
Waitha ma onzilat sooratun nathara baAAduhum ila baAAdin hal yarakum min ahadin thumma insarafoo sarafa Allahu quloobahum biannahum qawmun la yafqahoona

Ahmed Ali

Whenever a Surah is revealed they look at each other (so as to ask): "Is anyone looking at Us?" and then turn away. Indeed God has turned their hearts away (from the truth), for they cannot discern the law of heaven.

127

لَقَدْ جَاۗءَكُمْ رَسُوْلٌ مِّنْ اَنْفُسِكُمْ عَزِيْزٌ عَلَيْہِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيْصٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ رَءُوْفٌ رَّحِيْمٌ۝۱۲۸
Laqad jaakum rasoolun min anfusikum AAazeezun AAalayhi ma AAanittum hareesun AAalaykum bialmumineena raoofun raheemun

English

Ahmed Ali

To you has come an Apostle from among you. Any sorrow that befalls you weighs upon him; He is eager for your happiness, full of concern for the faithful, compassionate and kind.

128

فَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ اؙ۝۰ۤۡۖ لَاۗ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ھُوَ۝۰ۭ عَلَيْہِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَھُوَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ۝۱۲۹ۧ
Fain tawallaw faqul hasbiya Allahu la ilaha illa huwa AAalayhi tawakkaltu wahuwa rabbu alAAarshi alAAatheemi

Ahmed Ali

So, if they turn away, say to them: "God is sufficient for me. There is no God but He; I depend on Him alone, the Lord of the glorious Throne."
