٨٠ - عَبَسَ

80 - Abasa

عَبَسَ وَتَوَلّٰۗي۝۱ۙ
AAabasa watawalla

HE FROWNED AND turned away,

1

اَنْ جَاۗءَہُ الْاَعْمٰى۝۲ۭ
An jaahu alaAAma

English

Ahmed Ali

Because a blind man came to him.

2

وَمَا يُدْرِيْكَ لَعَلَّہٗ يَزَّكّٰۗي۝۳ۙ
Wama yudreeka laAAallahu yazzakka

English

Ahmed Ali

What made you think that he will not grow in virtue,

3

اَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنْفَعَہُ الذِّكْرٰى۝۴ۭ
Aw yaththakkaru fatanfaAAahu alththikra

Ahmed Ali

Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him?

4

اَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنٰى۝۵ۙ
Amma mani istaghna

Ahmed Ali

As for him who is not in want of any thing,

5

فَاَنْتَ لَہٗ تَصَدّٰى۝۶ۭ
Faanta lahu tasadda

Ahmed Ali

You pay full attention,

6

وَمَا عَلَيْكَ اَلَّا يَزَّكّٰى۝۷ۭ
Wama AAalayka alla yazzakka

Ahmed Ali

Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness).

7

وَاَمَّا مَنْ جَاۗءَكَ يَسْعٰى۝۸ۙ
Waamma man jaaka yasAAa

English

Ahmed Ali

As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness),

8

وَہُوَيَخْشٰى۝۹ۙ
Wahuwa yakhsha

Ahmed Ali

And is also fearful (of God),

9

فَاَنْتَ عَنْہُ تَلَہّٰى۝۱۰ۚ
Faanta AAanhu talahha

You neglect.
