٢٣ - ٱلْمُؤْمِنُون

23 - Al-Mu'minoon

وَاِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوْہُمْ اِلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيْمٍ۝۷۳
Wainnaka latadAAoohum ila siratin mustaqeemin

Ahmed Ali

You are surely calling them to the right path.

73

وَاِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْاٰخِرَۃِ عَنِ الصِّرَاطِ لَنٰكِبُوْنَ۝۷۴
Wainna allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati AAani alssirati lanakiboona

English

Ahmed Ali

But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path.

74

وَلَوْ رَحِمْنٰہُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِہِمْ مِّنْ ضُرٍّ لَّـــلَجُّوْا فِيْ طُغْيَانِہِمْ يَعْمَہُوْنَ۝۷۵
Walaw rahimnahum wakashafna ma bihim min durrin lalajjoo fee tughyanihim yaAAmahoona

Ahmed Ali

If We took compassion on them and removed the affliction they are in, they would only wander lost in confusion.

75

وَلَقَدْ اَخَذْنٰہُمْ بِالْعَذَابِ فَمَا اسْتَكَانُوْا لِرَبِّہِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُوْنَ۝۷۶
Walaqad akhathnahum bialAAathabi fama istakanoo lirabbihim wama yatadarraAAoona

Ahmed Ali

We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility,

76

حَتّٰۗي اِذَا فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْہِمْ بَابًا ذَا عَذَابٍ شَدِيْدٍ اِذَا ہُمْ فِيْہِ مُبْلِسُوْنَ۝۷۷ۧ
Hatta itha fatahna AAalayhim baban tha AAathabin shadeedin itha hum feehi mublisoona

Ahmed Ali

So that when at last We open up the gate of severe punishment on them they will be overwhelmed with despair.

77

وَہُوَالَّذِيْۗ اَنْشَاَ لَـكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَالْاَبْصَارَ وَالْاَفْـــِٕدَۃَ۝۰ۭ قَلِيْلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُوْنَ۝۷۸
Wahuwa allathee anshaa lakumu alssamAAa waalabsara waalafidata qaleelan ma tashkuroona

English

Ahmed Ali

It is He who gave you hearing, sight, and hearts, but only few of you give thanks.

78

وَہُوَالَّذِيْ ذَرَاَكُمْ فِي الْاَرْضِ وَاِلَيْہِ تُحْشَرُوْنَ۝۷۹
Wahuwa allathee tharaakum fee alardi wailayhi tuhsharoona

English

Ahmed Ali

It is He who multiplied you on the earth, and it will be before Him that you will be gathered.

79

وَہُوَالَّذِيْ يُـحْيٖ وَيُمِيْتُ وَلَہُ اخْتِلَافُ الَّيْلِ وَالنَّہَارِ۝۰ۭ اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُوْنَ۝۸۰
Wahuwa allathee yuhyee wayumeetu walahu ikhtilafu allayli waalnnahari afala taAAqiloona

Ahmed Ali

It is He who gives you life and death, and His the alternation of night and day. Even then you do not understand,

80

بَلْ قَالُوْا مِثْلَ مَا قَالَ الْاَوَّلُوْنَ۝۸۱
Bal qaloo mithla ma qala alawwaloona

Ahmed Ali

And talk as did the people of old.

81

قَالُوْۗا ءَ اِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّ عِظَامًا ءَ اِنَّا لَمَبْعُوْثُوْنَ۝۸۲
Qaloo aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoona

They say: "When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be raised to life again?
