15 - Al-Hijr

فَلَمَّا جَاۗءَ اٰلَ لُوْطِۨ الْمُرْسَلُوْنَ۝۶۱ۙ
Falamma jaa ala lootin almursaloona

Ahmed Ali

When the messengers came to the family of Lot,

61

قَالَ اِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنْكَرُوْنَ۝۶۲
Qala innakum qawmun munkaroona

Ahmed Ali

He said: "You are people I do not know."

62

قَالُوْا بَلْ جِئْنٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوْا فِيْہِ يَمْتَرُوْنَ۝۶۳
Qaloo bal jinaka bima kanoo feehi yamtaroona

Ahmed Ali

"We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt;

63

وَاَتَيْنٰكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَاِنَّا لَصٰدِقُوْنَ۝۶۴
Waataynaka bialhaqqi wainna lasadiqoona

English

Ahmed Ali

"Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful.

64

فَاَسْرِ بِاَہْلِكَ بِقِطْـعٍ مِّنَ الَّيْلِ وَاتَّبِـــعْ اَدْبَارَہُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ اَحَدٌ وَّامْضُوْا حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُوْنَ۝۶۵
Faasri biahlika biqitAAin mina allayli waittabiAA adbarahum wala yaltafit minkum ahadun waimdoo haythu tumaroona

Ahmed Ali

"So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded."

65

وَقَضَيْنَاۗ اِلَيْہِ ذٰلِكَ الْاَمْرَ اَنَّ دَابِرَ ہٰۗؤُلَاۗءِ مَقْطُوْعٌ مُّصْبِحِيْنَ۝۶۶
Waqadayna ilayhi thalika alamra anna dabira haolai maqtooAAun musbiheena

Ahmed Ali

We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning.

66

وَجَاۗءَ اَہْلُ الْمَدِيْنَۃِ يَسْـتَبْشِرُوْنَ۝۶۷
Wajaa ahlu almadeenati yastabshiroona

Ahmed Ali

Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news.

67

قَالَ اِنَّ ہٰۗؤُلَاۗءِ ضَيْفِيْ فَلَا تَفْضَحُوْنِ۝۶۸ۙ
Qala inna haolai dayfee fala tafdahooni

English

Ahmed Ali

Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame,

68

وَاتَّقُوا اللہَ وَلَا تُخْــزُوْنِ۝۶۹
Waittaqoo Allaha wala tukhzooni

Ahmed Ali

"And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God."

69

قَالُوْۗا اَوَلَمْ نَــنْہَكَ عَنِ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ۝۷۰
Qaloo awalam nanhaka AAani alAAalameena

Ahmed Ali

"Did we not restrain you," they said, "from (entertaining) creatures from the outside world?"
