٢١ - ٱلْأَنْبِيَاء

21 - Al-Anbiya

وَلَـقَدْ اٰتَيْنَاۗ اِبْرٰہِيْمَ رُشْدَہٗ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا بِہٖ عٰلِمِيْنَ۝۵۱ۚ
Walaqad atayna ibraheema rushdahu min qablu wakunna bihi AAalimeena

English

Ahmed Ali

We had earlier given Abraham true direction, for We knew him well.

51

اِذْ قَالَ لِاَبِيْہِ وَقَوْمِہٖ مَا ہٰذِہِ التَّـمَاثِيْلُ الَّتِيْۗ اَنْتُمْ لَہَا عٰكِفُوْنَ۝۵۲
Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi ma hathihi alttamatheelu allatee antum laha AAakifoona

Ahmed Ali

When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?"

52

قَالُوْا وَجَدْنَاۗ اٰبَاۗءَنَا لَہَا عٰبِدِيْنَ۝۵۳
Qaloo wajadna abaana laha AAabideena

English

Ahmed Ali

They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them."

53

قَالَ لَقَدْ كُنْتُمْ اَنْتُمْ وَاٰبَاۗؤُكُمْ فِيْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيْنٍ۝۵۴
Qala laqad kuntum antum waabaokum fee dalalin mubeenin

English

Ahmed Ali

He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error."

54

قَالُوْۗا اَجِئْـتَنَا بِالْحَــقِّ اَمْ اَنْتَ مِنَ اللّٰعِبِيْنَ۝۵۵
Qaloo ajitana bialhaqqi am anta mina allaAAibeena

Ahmed Ali

They said: "Are you speaking in earnest, or only jesting?"

55

قَالَ بَلْ رَّبُّكُمْ رَبُّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ الَّذِيْ فَطَرَہُنَّ۝۰ۡۖ وَاَنَا عَلٰي ذٰلِكُمْ مِّنَ الشّٰہِدِيْنَ۝۵۶
Qala bal rabbukum rabbu alssamawati waalardi allathee fatarahunna waana AAala thalikum mina alshshahideena

English

Ahmed Ali

He said: "In fact it was your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them; and I bear witness to this.

56

وَ تَاللہِ لَاَكِيْدَنَّ اَصْنَامَكُمْ بَعْدَ اَنْ تُوَلُّوْا مُدْبِرِيْنَ۝۵۷
WataAllahi laakeedanna asnamakum baAAda an tuwalloo mudbireena

Ahmed Ali

I swear by God I will do something to your idols when you have turned your backs and gone."

57

فَجَــعَلَہُمْ جُذٰذًا اِلَّا كَبِيْرًا لَّہُمْ لَعَلَّہُمْ اِلَيْہِ يَرْجِعُوْنَ۝۵۸
FajaAAalahum juthathan illa kabeeran lahum laAAallahum ilayhi yarjiAAoona

Ahmed Ali

So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it.

58

قَالُوْا مَنْ فَعَلَ ھٰذَا بِاٰلِـہَتِنَاۗ اِنَّہٗ لَمِنَ الظّٰلِــمِيْنَ۝۵۹
Qaloo man faAAala hatha bialihatina innahu lamina alththalimeena

Ahmed Ali

They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger."

59

قَالُوْا سَمِعْنَا فَـتًى يَّذْكُرُہُمْ يُقَالُ لَہٗۗ اِبْرٰہِيْمُ۝۶۰ۭ
Qaloo samiAAna fatan yathkuruhum yuqalu lahu ibraheemu

Ahmed Ali

They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham."
