٢٣ - ٱلْمُؤْمِنُون

23 - Al-Mu'minoon

وَقَالَ الْمَلَاُ مِنْ قَوْمِہِ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا وَكَذَّبُوْا بِلِقَاۗءِ الْاٰخِرَۃِ وَاَتْرَفْنٰہُمْ فِي الْحَيٰوۃِ الدُّنْيَا۝۰ۙ مَا ھٰذَاۗ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ۝۰ۙ يَاْكُلُ مِمَّا تَاْكُلُوْنَ مِنْہُ وَيَشْرَبُ مِمَّا تَشْرَبُوْنَ۝۳۳۠ۙ
Waqala almalao min qawmihi allatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biliqai alakhirati waatrafnahum fee alhayati alddunya ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yakulu mimma takuloona minhu wayashrabu mimma tashraboona

Ahmed Ali

The chiefs of the people who did not believe and denied the life to come, though We had given them good things of this life to enjoy, (said): "He is only a mortal like you. He eats as you do, and drinks as you drink.

33

وَلَىِٕنْ اَطَعْتُمْ بَشَرًا مِّثْلَكُمْ۝۰ۙ اِنَّكُمْ اِذًا لَّخٰسِرُوْنَ۝۳۴ۙ
Walain ataAAtum basharan mithlakum innakum ithan lakhasiroona

Ahmed Ali

So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed.

34

اَيَعِدُكُمْ اَنَّكُمْ اِذَا مِتُّمْ وَكُنْتُمْ تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا اَنَّكُمْ مُّخْــرَجُوْنَ۝۳۵۠ۙ
AyaAAidukum annakum itha mittum wakuntum turaban waAAithaman annakum mukhrajoona

Ahmed Ali

Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again?

35

ہَيْہَاتَ ہَيْہَاتَ لِمَا تُوْعَدُوْنَ۝۳۶۠ۙ
Hayhata hayhata lima tooAAadoona

Ahmed Ali

How far-fetched what you are promised;

36

اِنْ ہِىَ اِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوْتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوْثِيْنَ۝۳۷۠ۙ
In hiya illa hayatuna alddunya namootu wanahya wama nahnu bimabAAootheena

Ahmed Ali

There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us.

37

اِنْ ہُوَ اِلَّا رَجُلُۨ افْتَرٰى عَلَي اللہِ كَذِبًا وَّمَا نَحْنُ لَہٗ ￀مِنِيْنَ۝۳۸
In huwa illa rajulun iftara AAala Allahi kathiban wama nahnu lahu bimumineena

He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him."

38

قَالَ رَبِّ انْصُرْنِيْ بِمَا كَذَّبُوْنِ۝۳۹
Qala rabbi onsurnee bima kaththabooni

Ahmed Ali

(The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies."

39

قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيْلٍ لَّيُصْبِحُنَّ نٰدِمِيْنَ۝۴۰ۚ
Qala AAamma qaleelin layusbihunna nadimeena

Ahmed Ali

Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon."

40

فَاَخَذَتْہُمُ الصَّيْحَۃُ بِالْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنٰہُمْ غُثَاۗءً۝۰ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ الظّٰلِــمِيْنَ۝۴۱
Faakhathathumu alssayhatu bialhaqqi fajaAAalnahum ghuthaan fabuAAdan lilqawmi alththalimeena

Ahmed Ali

So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people!

41

ثُمَّ اَنْشَاْنَا مِنْۢ بَعْدِہِمْ قُرُوْنًا اٰخَرِيْنَ۝۴۲ۭ
Thumma anshana min baAAdihim quroonan akhareena

Then after them We raised other generations.

42
