11 - Houd

وَلَقَدْ جَاۗءَتْ رُسُلُنَاۗ اِبْرٰہِيْمَ بِالْبُشْرٰي قَالُوْا سَلٰمًا۝۰ۭ قَالَ سَلٰمٌ فَمَا لَبِثَ اَنْ جَاۗءَ بِعِجْلٍ حَنِيْذٍ۝۶۹
Walaqad jaat rusuluna ibraheema bialbushra qaloo salaman qala salamun fama labitha an jaa biAAijlin haneethin

English

Ahmed Ali

Our angels came to Abraham with good news, and said: "Peace on you. "Peace on you too," said Abraham, and hastened to bring a roasted calf.

69

فَلَمَّا رَاٰۗ اَيْدِيَہُمْ لَا تَصِلُ اِلَيْہِ نَكِرَہُمْ وَاَوْجَسَ مِنْہُمْ خِيْفَۃً۝۰ۭ قَالُوْا لَا تَخَفْ اِنَّاۗ اُرْسِلْنَاۗ اِلٰي قَوْمِ لُوْطٍ۝۷۰ۭ
Falamma raa aydiyahum la tasilu ilayhi nakirahum waawjasa minhum kheefatan qaloo la takhaf inna orsilna ila qawmi lootin

Ahmed Ali

When they did not stretch their hands towards it he became suspicious and afraid of them. They said: "Do not be afraid. We have been sent to the people of Lot."

70

وَامْرَاَتُہٗ قَاۗىِٕمَۃٌ فَضَحِكَتْ فَبَشَّرْنٰہَا بِـاِسْحٰقَ۝۰ۙ وَمِنْ وَّرَاۗءِ اِسْحٰقَ يَعْقُوْبَ۝۷۱
Waimraatuhu qaimatun fadahikat fabashsharnaha biishaqa wamin warai ishaqa yaAAqooba

Ahmed Ali

His wife who stood near, laughed as We gave her the good news of Isaac, and after Isaac of Jacob.

71

قَالَتْ يٰوَيْلَــتٰۗى ءَاَلِدُ وَاَنَا عَجُوْزٌ وَّھٰذَا بَعْلِيْ شَيْخًا۝۰ۭ اِنَّ ھٰذَا لَشَيْءٌ عَجِيْبٌ۝۷۲
Qalat ya waylata aalidu waana AAajoozun wahatha baAAlee shaykhan inna hatha lashayon AAajeebun

English

Ahmed Ali

She said: "Woe betide me! Will I give birth when I am old and this my husband be aged? This is indeed surprising!"

72

قَالُوْۗا اَتَعْجَبِيْنَ مِنْ اَمْرِ اللہِ رَحْمَتُ اللہِ وَبَرَكٰتُہٗ عَلَيْكُمْ اَہْلَ الْبَيْتِ۝۰ۭ اِنَّہٗ حَمِيْدٌ مَّجِيْدٌ۝۷۳
Qaloo ataAAjabeena min amri Allahi rahmatu Allahi wabarakatuhu AAalaykum ahla albayti innahu hameedun majeedun

Ahmed Ali

"Why are you surprised at the command of God? God's mercy and blessings be upon you, O members of this household," they said. "Verily He is worthy of praise and glory."

73

فَلَمَّا ذَہَبَ عَنْ اِبْرٰہِيْمَ الرَّوْعُ وَجَاۗءَتْہُ الْبُشْرٰي يُجَادِلُنَا فِيْ قَوْمِ لُوْطٍ۝۷۴ۭ
Falamma thahaba AAan ibraheema alrrawAAu wajaathu albushra yujadiluna fee qawmi lootin

Ahmed Ali

When Abraham's fear was dispelled, and the good news had come to him, he pleaded for the people of Lot with Us.

74

اِنَّ اِبْرٰہِيْمَ لَحَلِيْمٌ اَوَّاہٌ مُّنِيْبٌ۝۷۵
Inna ibraheema lahaleemun awwahun muneebun

Ahmed Ali

Abraham was kind, compassionate, and penitent.

75

يٰۗـــاِبْرٰہِيْمُ اَعْرِضْ عَنْ ھٰذَا۝۰ۚ اِنَّہٗ قَدْ جَاۗءَ اَمْرُ رَبِّكَ۝۰ۚ وَاِنَّہُمْ اٰتِيْہِمْ عَذَابٌ غَيْرُ مَرْدُوْدٍ۝۷۶
Ya ibraheemu aAArid AAan hatha innahu qad jaa amru rabbika wainnahum ateehim AAathabun ghayru mardoodin

Ahmed Ali

"Desist from pleading, O Abraham," (they said). "Your Lord's command has verily been issued, and a punishment that cannot be averted is bound to fall on them."

76

وَلَمَّا جَاۗءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوْطًا سِيْۗءَ بِہِمْ وَضَاقَ بِہِمْ ذَرْعًا وَّقَالَ ھٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَصِيْبٌ۝۷۷
Walamma jaat rusuluna lootan seea bihim wadaqa bihim tharAAan waqala hatha yawmun AAaseebun

Ahmed Ali

So when Our angels came to Lot, he grieved for them, and felt powerless to help them, and said: "This is a day of sorrow.

77

وَجَاۗءَہٗ قَوْمُہٗ يُہْرَعُوْنَ اِلَيْہِ۝۰ۭ وَمِنْ قَبْلُ كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ السَّيِّاٰتِ۝۰ۭ قَالَ يٰقَوْمِ ہٰۗؤُلَاۗءِ بَنَاتِيْ ہُنَّ اَطْہَرُ لَكُمْ فَاتَّقُوا اللہَ وَلَا تُخْزُوْنِ فِيْ ضَيْفِيْ۝۰ۭ اَلَيْسَ مِنْكُمْ رَجُلٌ رَّشِيْدٌ۝۷۸
Wajaahu qawmuhu yuhraAAoona ilayhi wamin qablu kanoo yaAAmaloona alssayyiati qala ya qawmi haolai banatee hunna atharu lakum faittaqoo Allaha wala tukhzooni fee dayfee alaysa minkum rajulun rasheedun

His people came excited to him. They were addicted to sin already. Said (Lot): "O my people, these daughters of mine are cleaner (and lawful) for you. Have fear of God, and do not shame me before my guests. Is there no man of discernment among you?"
