٤٠ - غَافِر

40 - Ghafir

اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا يُنَادَوْنَ لَمَقْتُ اللہِ اَكْبَرُ مِنْ مَّقْتِكُمْ اَنْفُسَكُمْ اِذْ تُدْعَوْنَ اِلَى الْاِيْمَانِ فَتَكْفُرُوْنَ۝۱۰
Inna allatheena kafaroo yunadawna lamaqtu Allahi akbaru min maqtikum anfusakum ith tudAAawna ila aleemani fatakfuroona

English

Ahmed Ali

Those who disbelieve will certainly be told: "God's displeasure was greater than your disgust of your selves when you were called to belief and refused to believe."

10

قَالُوْا رَبَّنَاۗ اَمَتَّنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ وَاَحْيَيْتَنَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَاعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوْبِنَا فَہَلْ اِلٰى خُرُوْجٍ مِّنْ سَبِيْلٍ۝۱۱
Qaloo rabbana amattana ithnatayni waahyaytana ithnatayni faiAAtarafna bithunoobina fahal ila khuroojin min sabeelin

English

Ahmed Ali

They say: "O Lord, twice You made us die, and twice You made us live. We admit our sins. Is there still a way out for us?"

11

ذٰلِكُمْ بِاَنَّہٗۗ اِذَا دُعِيَ اللہُ وَحْدَہٗ كَفَرْتُمْ۝۰ۚ وَاِنْ يُّشْرَكْ بِہٖ تُؤْمِنُوْا۝۰ۭ فَالْحُكْمُ لِلہِ الْعَلِيِّ الْكَبِيْرِ۝۱۲
Thalikum biannahu itha duAAiya Allahu wahdahu kafartum wain yushrak bihi tuminoo faalhukmu lillahi alAAaliyyi alkabeeri

Ahmed Ali

This has come upon you because when God alone was invoked you disbelieved; but when partners were associated with Him, you believed. But judgement belongs to God, the all-high and supreme.

12

ہُوَالَّذِيْ يُرِيْكُمْ اٰيٰتِہٖ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُمْ مِّنَ السَّمَاۗءِ رِزْقًا۝۰ۭ وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ اِلَّا مَنْ يُّنِيْبُ۝۱۳
Huwa allathee yureekum ayatihi wayunazzilu lakum mina alssamai rizqan wama yatathakkaru illa man yuneebu

English

Ahmed Ali

It is He who shows you His signs, and sends you food from the heavens. Yet none takes a warning except him who turns to Him.

13

فَادْعُوا اللہَ مُخْلِصِيْنَ لَہُ الدِّيْنَ وَلَوْ كَرِہَ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ۝۱۴
FaodAAoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu alddeena walaw kariha alkafiroona

Ahmed Ali

So call on God with exclusive obedience, howsoever the unbelievers may dislike it.

14

رَفِيْعُ الدَّرَجٰتِ ذُو الْعَرْشِ۝۰ۚ يُلْقِي الرُّوْحَ مِنْ اَمْرِہٖ عَلٰي مَنْ يَّشَاۗءُ مِنْ عِبَادِہٖ لِيُنْذِرَ يَوْمَ التَّلَاقِ۝۱۵ۙ
RafeeAAu alddarajati thoo alAAarshi yulqee alrrooha min amrihi AAala man yashao min AAibadihi liyunthira yawma alttalaqi

Ahmed Ali

Most exalted of position, Lord of power, He directs inspiration by His command to any of His creatures as He will, to warn (men) of the Day of Meeting,

15

يَوْمَ ہُمْ بٰرِزُوْنَ۝۰ۥۚ لَا يَخْـفٰى عَلَي اللہِ مِنْہُمْ شَيْءٌ۝۰ۭ لِمَنِ الْمُلْكُ الْيَوْمَ۝۰ۭ لِلہِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَہَّارِ۝۱۶
Yawma hum barizoona la yakhfa AAala Allahi minhum shayon limani almulku alyawma lillahi alwahidi alqahhari

Ahmed Ali

The day when they will come out (of their graves), with nothing of them hidden from God. Whose then will be the kingdom? -- God's, the one, the omnipotent.

16

اَلْيَوْمَ تُجْزٰى كُلُّ نَفْسٍؚبِمَا كَسَبَتْ۝۰ۭ لَا ظُلْمَ الْيَوْمَ۝۰ۭ اِنَّ اللہَ سَرِيْعُ الْحِسَابِ۝۱۷
Alyawma tujza kullu nafsin bima kasabat la thulma alyawma inna Allaha sareeAAu alhisabi

English

Ahmed Ali

Each soul will be recompensed that Day for what it had earned. There will be no depriving on that Day. Surely God is swift at reckoning.

17

وَاَنْذِرْہُمْ يَوْمَ الْاٰزِفَۃِ اِذِ الْقُلُوْبُ لَدَى الْحَـنَاجِرِ كٰظِمِيْنَ۝۰ۥۭ مَا لِلظّٰلِمِيْنَ مِنْ حَمِيْمٍ وَّلَا شَفِيْعٍ يُّطَاعُ۝۱۸ۭ
Waanthirhum yawma alazifati ithi alquloobu lada alhanajiri kathimeena ma lilththalimeena min hameemin wala shafeeAAin yutaAAu

Ahmed Ali

Warn them of the coming day inevitable, when hearts would jump to the throats, filling them with anguish. The sinners will have neither friend nor intercessor whose (word) will be heeded.

18

يَعْلَمُ خَاۗىِٕنَۃَ الْاَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِي الصُّدُوْرُ۝۱۹
YaAAlamu khainata alaAAyuni wama tukhfee alssudooru

Ahmed Ali

Known to Him is the treachery of the eye, and what the breasts conceal.
