٤٢ - ٱلشُّورىٰ

42 - Ash-Shura

وَمَاۗ اَصَابَكُمْ مِّنْ مُّصِيْبَۃٍ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ اَيْدِيْكُمْ وَيَعْفُوْا عَنْ كَثِيْرٍ۝۳۰ۭ
Wama asabakum min museebatin fabima kasabat aydeekum wayaAAfoo AAan katheerin

English

Ahmed Ali

Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your deeds; yet He forgives much.

30

وَمَاۗ اَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِيْنَ فِي الْاَرْضِ۝۰ۚۖ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِ اللہِ مِنْ وَّلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيْرٍ۝۳۱
Wama antum bimuAAjizeena fee alardi wama lakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin

English

Ahmed Ali

You cannot thwart Him on the earth, and have no friend or helper apart from Him.

31

وَمِنْ اٰيٰتِہِ الْجَـــوَارِ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْاَعْلَامِ۝۳۲ۭ
Wamin ayatihi aljawari fee albahri kaalaAAlami

English

Ahmed Ali

Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His.

32

اِنْ يَّشَاْ يُسْكِنِ الرِّيْحَ فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلٰي ظَہْرِہٖ۝۰ۭ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُوْرٍ۝۳۳ۙ
In yasha yuskini alrreeha fayathlalna rawakida AAala thahrihi inna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarin shakoorin

English

Ahmed Ali

He could stop the wind if He pleased, then they would be stranded on its surface. Surely there are signs in this for every one who perseveres and is grateful.

33

اَوْ يُوْبِقْہُنَّ بِمَا كَسَبُوْا وَيَعْفُ عَنْ كَثِيْرٍ۝۳۴ۡ
Aw yoobiqhunna bima kasaboo wayaAAfu AAan katheerin

English

Ahmed Ali

Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons.

34

وَّيَعْلَمَ الَّذِيْنَ يُجَادِلُوْنَ فِيْۗ اٰيٰتِنَا۝۰ۭ مَا لَہُمْ مِّنْ مَّحِيْصٍ۝۳۵
WayaAAlama allatheena yujadiloona fee ayatina ma lahum min maheesin

English

Ahmed Ali

Let those who dispute Our signs know that there is no way of escape for them.

35

فَمَاۗ اُوْتِيْتُمْ مِّنْ شَيْءٍ فَمَتَاعُ الْحَيٰوۃِ الدُّنْيَا۝۰ۚ وَمَا عِنْدَ اللہِ خَيْرٌ وَّاَبْقٰى لِلَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَلٰي رَبِّہِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُوْنَ۝۳۶ۚ
Fama ooteetum min shayin famataAAu alhayati alddunya wama AAinda Allahi khayrun waabqa lillatheena amanoo waAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloona

Ahmed Ali

Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord,

36

وَالَّذِيْنَ يَجْتَنِبُوْنَ كَبٰۗىِٕرَ الْاِثْمِ وَالْـفَوَاحِشَ وَاِذَا مَا غَضِبُوْا ہُمْ يَغْفِرُوْنَ۝۳۷ۚ
Waallatheena yajtaniboona kabaira alithmi waalfawahisha waitha ma ghadiboo hum yaghfiroona

Ahmed Ali

Who avoid the deadly sins, immoral acts, and forgive when they are angered,

37

وَالَّذِيْنَ اسْتَجَابُوْا لِرَبِّہِمْ وَاَقَامُوا الصَّلٰوۃَ۝۰۠ وَاَمْرُہُمْ شُوْرٰى بَيْنَہُمْ۝۰۠ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنٰہُمْ يُنْفِقُوْنَ۝۳۸ۚ
Waallatheena istajaboo lirabbihim waaqamoo alssalata waamruhum shoora baynahum wamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoona

English

Ahmed Ali

Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them,

38

وَالَّذِيْنَ اِذَاۗ اَصَابَہُمُ الْبَغْيُ ہُمْ يَنْتَصِرُوْنَ۝۳۹
Waallatheena itha asabahumu albaghyu hum yantasiroona

Ahmed Ali

And those who defend themselves when they are wronged.

39
