٥ - ٱلْمَائِدَة

5 - Al-Ma'ida

وَاتْلُ عَلَيْہِمْ نَبَاَ ابْنَيْ اٰدَمَ بِالْحَقِّ۝۰ۘ اِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ اَحَدِہِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ الْاٰخَرِ۝۰ۭ قَالَ لَاَقْتُلَـنَّكَ۝۰ۭ قَالَ اِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ اللہُ مِنَ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ۝۲۷
Waotlu AAalayhim nabaa ibnay adama bialhaqqi ith qarraba qurbanan fatuqubbila min ahadihima walam yutaqabbal mina alakhari qala laaqtulannaka qala innama yataqabbalu Allahu mina almuttaqeena

Ahmed Ali

Narrate to them exactly the tale of the two sons of Adam. When each of them offered a sacrifice (to God), that of one was accepted, and that of the other was not. Said (the one): "I will murder you," and the other replied: "God only accepts from those who are upright and preserve themselves from evil.

27

لَىِٕنْۢ بَسَطْتَّ اِلَيَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِيْ مَاۗ اَنَا بِبَاسِطٍ يَّدِيَ اِلَيْكَ لِاَقْتُلَكَ۝۰ۚ اِنِّىْۗ اَخَافُ اللہَ رَبَّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ۝۲۸
Lain basatta ilayya yadaka litaqtulanee ma ana bibasitin yadiya ilayka liaqtulaka innee akhafu Allaha rabba alAAalameena

Ahmed Ali

If you raise your hand to kill me, I will raise not mine to kill you, for I fear God, the Lord of all the worlds;

28

اِنِّىْۗ اُرِيْدُ اَنْ تَبُوْۗاَ بِـاِثْمِيْ وَ اِثْمِكَ فَتَكُوْنَ مِنْ اَصْحٰبِ النَّارِ۝۰ۚ وَذٰلِكَ جَزٰۗؤُا الظّٰلِــمِيْنَ۝۲۹ۚ
Innee oreedu an tabooa biithmee waithmika fatakoona min ashabi alnnari wathalika jazao alththalimeena

Ahmed Ali

I would rather you suffered the punishment for sinning against me, and for your own sin, and became an inmate of Hell. And that is the requital for the unjust."

29

فَطَوَّعَتْ لَہٗ نَفْسُہٗ قَتْلَ اَخِيْہِ فَقَتَلَہٗ فَاَصْبَحَ مِنَ الْخٰسِرِيْنَ۝۳۰
FatawwaAAat lahu nafsuhu qatla akheehi faqatalahu faasbaha mina alkhasireena

Ahmed Ali

Then the other was induced by his passion to murder his brother, and he killed him, and became one of the damned.

30

فَبَعَثَ اللہُ غُرَابًا يَّبْحَثُ فِي الْاَرْضِ لِيُرِيَہٗ كَيْفَ يُوَارِيْ سَوْءَۃَ اَخِيْہِ۝۰ۭ قَالَ يٰوَيْلَــتٰۗى اَعَجَزْتُ اَنْ اَكُوْنَ مِثْلَ ہٰذَا الْغُرَابِ فَاُوَارِيَ سَوْءَۃَ اَخِيْ۝۰ۚ فَاَصْبَحَ مِنَ النّٰدِمِيْنَ۝۳۱ۚۙۛ
FabaAAatha Allahu ghuraban yabhathu fee alardi liyuriyahu kayfa yuwaree sawata akheehi qala ya waylata aAAajaztu an akoona mithla hatha alghurabi faowariya sawata akhee faasbaha mina alnnadimeena

Ahmed Ali

Then God sent a raven which scratched the ground in order to show him how to hide the nakedness of his brother. "Alas, the woe," said he, "that I could not be even like the raven and hide the nakedness of my brother," and was filled with remorse.

31

مِنْ اَجْلِ ذٰلِكَ۝۰ۚۛؔ كَتَبْنَا عَلٰي بَنِيْۗ اِسْرَاۗءِيْلَ اَنَّہٗ مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسًۢا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ اَوْ فَسَادٍ فِي الْاَرْضِ فَكَاَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيْعًا۝۰ۭ وَمَنْ اَحْيَاہَا فَكَاَنَّمَاۗ اَحْيَا النَّاسَ جَمِيْعًا۝۰ۭ وَلَقَدْ جَاۗءَتْہُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِالْبَيِّنٰتِ۝۰ۡثُمَّ اِنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِّنْہُمْ بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ فِي الْاَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُوْنَ۝۳۲
Min ajli thalika katabna AAala banee israeela annahu man qatala nafsan bighayri nafsin aw fasadin fee alardi fakaannama qatala alnnasa jameeAAan waman ahyaha fakaannama ahya alnnasa jameeAAan walaqad jaa thum rusuluna bialbayyinati thumma inna katheeran minhum baAAda thalika fee alardi lamusrifoona

That is why We decreed for the children of Israel that whosoever kills a human being, except (as punishment) for murder or for spreading corruption in the land, it shall be like killing all humanity; and whosoever saves a life, saves the entire human race. Our apostles brought clear proofs to them; but even after that most of them committed excesses in the land.

32

اِنَّمَا جَزٰۗؤُا الَّذِيْنَ يُحَارِبُوْنَ اللہَ وَرَسُوْلَہٗ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي الْاَرْضِ فَسَادًا اَنْ يُّقَتَّلُوْۗا اَوْ يُصَلَّبُوْۗا اَوْ تُـقَطَّعَ اَيْدِيْہِمْ وَاَرْجُلُہُمْ مِّنْ خِلَافٍ اَوْ يُنْفَوْا مِنَ الْاَرْضِ۝۰ۭ ذٰلِكَ لَہُمْ خِزْيٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ لَہُمْ فِي الْاٰخِرَۃِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيْمٌ۝۳۳ۙ
Innama jazao allatheena yuhariboona Allaha warasoolahu wayasAAawna fee alardi fasadan an yuqattaloo aw yusallaboo aw tuqattaAAa aydeehim waarjuluhum min khilafin aw yunfaw mina alardi thalika lahum khizyun fee alddunya walahum fee alakhirati AAathabun AAatheemun

Ahmed Ali

The punishment for those who wage war against God and His Prophet, and perpetrate disorders in the land, is to kill or hang them, or have a hand on one side and a foot on the other cut off, or banish them from the land. Such is their disgrace in the world, and in the Hereafter their doom shall be dreadful.

33

اِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ تَابُوْا مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ تَقْدِرُوْا عَلَيْہِمْ۝۰ۚ فَاعْلَمُوْۗا اَنَّ اللہَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ۝۳۴ۧ
Illa allatheena taboo min qabli an taqdiroo AAalayhim faiAAlamoo anna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun

But those who repent before they are subdued should know that God is forgiving and kind.
