Muslims of Cambridge, Ontario, have built several mosques and Islamic centers to cater to the worship needs of Muslims in the area. Let's have a look at different popular mosques in Cambridge:
The Islamic Center of Cambridge caters to the Muslim community of Cambridge and the entire Waterloo region. It was established in 1988 to provide a safe space for Muslims to offer daily prayers in congregation behind one Imam. Offering prayers in a mosque is recommended in Islam. It is narrated from Abu Dharr (R.A) that the Prophet (S.A.W) said: "...Whenever the time comes for prayer, pray there, for that is a mosque" (Sahih Muslim 520a).
The mission of the center is to bring Muslims under one roof for social, religious, and educational purposes and events. They aim to promote and enhance the spiritual teaching of Islam and eliminate any concept of Islamophobia and any misunderstanding about Islam from society.
The journey of the Islamic Center of Cambridge began in 1980 under the name of the Pakistan-Canada Association, registered as a charitable organization working in Canada. This charitable organization joined the Canadian Islamic Trust in 1987 and started The Islamic Centre of Cambridge in 1988. From then onwards, it began providing facilities and services for the Muslims living around the Cambridge area, including a full-time Islamic School and Hifz program.
In 2004, the second wing of the Islamic center was delayed due to a lack of funds. Later, in 2018, the organization left Canadian Islamic Trust and partnered with the State of Kuwait for an expansion project, completing phase 3 of their Islamic Center. Now, the Islamic Center also has a place for recreational activities, such as a gymnasium, a full-fledged prayer hall, a full-time school, and a Hifz program.

Cambridge Muslim Society facilitates the Muslim community of Cambridge and the regions surrounding it. Cambridge is 100km away from the metropolitan city of Toronto, and it is in close vicinity of Kitchener and Waterloo. Cambridge Muslim Society started its mission in 1974, offering a place for daily 5 times prayers and Madrassah for children.
It all began in a small apartment, but by 1980, the mosque's management bought a big warehouse to convert it into a prayer hall, where they also started with Jumu'ah prayers. They expanded the services and started to provide funeral services for the community. By 1989, they bought land to build a proper Masjid named Jamia Umar Al-Farooq Masjid. The construction took two years; it started in 1995 and was completed in 1997. Now, it is a complete mosque and Madrassah serving the Muslim society of Cambridge and the entire region.
