Red Deer has mosques to offer Muslims a place to worship. Here are the popular mosques in Red Deer, Alberta:

1. The Red Deer Islamic Center

Red Deer Islamic Center, which now serves as a mosque and Islamic Center for Muslims living in Red Deer and the surrounding areas, was once just a tiny room of one of its member’s houses. The first congregational prayer was held on 13th February 1976 at a house of which now is one of the founding members of Red Deer Islamic Center.

In 1990, land was bought for a masjid to be built. The main floor of the Masjid, completed in 1993, was immediately utilized for the Friday prayer. Later, in 2009, a mezzanine floor was added as a separate floor for women.

Today, with the great effort of all members, Red Deer Islamic Center is working for the Muslim community of Red Deer. Muslims now have a full-fledged mosque to offer daily Jumu’ah and Eid prayers, with women having separate prayer areas.

Red Deer Islamic Center now also has a segregated Madrasah for boys and girls. Madrasah of boys is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 5:30 and 7:30 pm and girls Madrasah on Saturdays from 11 am to 2 pm. Girls and boys from the community join the Madrasah passionately to learn more about their religion and strengthen their faith.

Now, a new big mosque is the next target for Red Deer Islamic Center. Due to the limited space in the current mosque, it has become necessary. The new mosque is under construction in Timberland and will serve the Muslim community of central Alberta. In the new mosque, around five hundred to six hundred people can attend prayer together, with a separate area for women to offer their prayers freely.
