٣ - آلِ عِمْرَان

3 - Al-Imran

لَقَدْ مَنَّ اللہُ عَلَي الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ اِذْ بَعَثَ فِيْھِمْ رَسُوْلًا مِّنْ اَنْفُسِھِمْ يَتْلُوْا عَلَيْھِمْ اٰيٰتِہٖ وَيُزَكِّيْھِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُھُمُ الْكِتٰبَ وَالْحِكْمَۃَ۝۰ۚ وَاِنْ كَانُوْا مِنْ قَبْلُ لَفِيْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيْنٍ۝۱۶۴
Laqad manna Allahu AAala almumineena ith baAAatha feehim rasoolan min anfusihim yatloo AAalayhim ayatihi wayuzakkeehim wayuAAallimuhumu alkitaba waalhikmata wain kanoo min qablu lafee dalalin mubeenin

Ahmed Ali

God has favoured the faithful by sending an apostle to them from among themselves, who recites to them His messages, and reforms and teaches them the Law and the judgement, for they were clearly in error before.

164

اَوَلَمَّاۗ اَصَابَتْكُمْ مُّصِيْبَۃٌ قَدْ اَصَبْتُمْ مِّثْلَيْھَا۝۰ۙ قُلْتُمْ اَنّٰى ہٰذَا۝۰ۭ قُلْ ھُوَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اَنْفُسِكُمْ۝۰ۭ اِنَّ اللہَ عَلٰي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ۝۱۶۵
Awalamma asabatkum museebatun qad asabtum mithlayha qultum anna hatha qul huwa min AAindi anfusikum inna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun

Ahmed Ali

How is it that when misfortune befell you, you said: "Where has this come from?" -- even though you had inflicted disaster twice as great on (the enemy). Say: "This has come from your own selves." Surely God has power over all things.

165

وَمَاۗ اَصَابَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعٰنِ فَبِـاِذْنِ اللہِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ۝۱۶۶ۙ
Wama asabakum yawma iltaqa aljamAAani fabiithni Allahi waliyaAAlama almumineena

What you suffered on the day the two armies had met was by God's dispensation, so that He may distinguish the faithful,

166

وَلِيَعْلَمَ الَّذِيْنَ نَافَقُوْا۝۰ۚۖ وَقِيْلَ لَھُمْ تَعَالَوْا قَاتِلُوْا فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللہِ اَوِ ادْفَعُوْا۝۰ۭ قَالُوْا لَوْ نَعْلَمُ قِتَالًا لَّااتَّبَعْنٰكُمْ۝۰ۭ ھُمْ لِلْكُفْرِ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ اَقْرَبُ مِنْھُمْ لِلْاِيْمَانِ۝۰ۚ يَقُوْلُوْنَ بِاَفْوَاہِھِمْ مَّا لَيْسَ فِيْ قُلُوْبِھِمْ۝۰ۭ وَاللہُ اَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَكْتُمُوْنَ۝۱۶۷ۚ
WaliyaAAlama allatheena nafaqoo waqeela lahum taAAalaw qatiloo fee sabeeli Allahi awi idfaAAoo qaloo law naAAlamu qitalan laittabaAAnakum hum lilkufri yawmaithin aqrabu minhum lileemani yaqooloona biafwahihim ma laysa fee quloobihim waAllahu aAAlamu bima yaktumoona

Ahmed Ali

And may distinguish the hypocrites who were told: "Fight in the way of God, or defend yourselves," and who had replied: "If we knew of the fight we would have followed you." They were nearer unbelief than faith on that day, and they said with their tongues what was not in their hearts; but God is aware of what they hide.

167

اَلَّذِيْنَ قَالُوْا لِاِخْوَانِھِمْ وَقَعَدُوْا لَوْ اَطَاعُوْنَا مَا قُتِلُوْا۝۰ۭ قُلْ فَادْرَءُوْا عَنْ اَنْفُسِكُمُ الْمَوْتَ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ۝۱۶۸
Allatheena qaloo liikhwanihim waqaAAadoo law ataAAoona ma qutiloo qul faidraoo AAan anfusikumu almawta in kuntum sadiqeena

English

Ahmed Ali

To those who sit at home and say of their brothers: "They would never have been killed had they listened to us, say: "Drive away death from your midst if what you say is true."

168

وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِيْنَ قُتِلُوْا فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللہِ اَمْوَاتًا۝۰ۭ بَلْ اَحْيَاۗءٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّھِمْ يُرْزَقُوْنَ۝۱۶۹ۙ
Wala tahsabanna allatheena qutiloo fee sabeeli Allahi amwatan bal ahyaon AAinda rabbihim yurzaqoona

Ahmed Ali

Never think that those who are killed in the way of God are dead. They are alive, getting succour from their Lord,

169

فَرِحِيْنَ بِمَاۗ اٰتٰىھُمُ اللہُ مِنْ فَضْلِہٖ۝۰ۙ وَيَسْـتَبْشِرُوْنَ بِالَّذِيْنَ لَمْ يَلْحَقُوْا بِھِمْ مِّنْ خَلْفِھِمْ۝۰ۙ اَلَّا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْھِمْ وَلَا ھُمْ يَحْزَنُوْنَ۝۱۷۰ۘ
Fariheena bima atahumu Allahu min fadlihi wayastabshiroona biallatheena lam yalhaqoo bihim min khalfihim alla khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona

Ahmed Ali

Rejoicing at what God has given them of His grace, and happy for those who are trying to overtake them but have not joined them yet, and who will have no fear or regret.

170

يَسْتَبْشِرُوْنَ بِنِعْمَۃٍ مِّنَ اللہِ وَفَضْلٍ۝۰ۙ وَّاَنَّ اللہَ لَا يُضِيْعُ اَجْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ۝۱۷۱ۚۛۧ
Yastabshiroona biniAAmatin mina Allahi wafadlin waanna Allaha la yudeeAAu ajra almumineena

English

Ahmed Ali

They rejoice at the kindness and mercy of God; and God does not suffer the wages of the faithful to go waste.

171

اَلَّذِيْنَ اسْتَجَابُوْا لِلہِ وَالرَّسُوْلِ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مَاۗ اَصَابَھُمُ الْقَرْحُ۝۰ۭۛ لِلَّذِيْنَ اَحْسَنُوْا مِنْھُمْ وَاتَّقَوْا اَجْرٌ عَظِيْمٌ۝۱۷۲ۚ
Allatheena istajaboo lillahi waalrrasooli min baAAdi ma asabahumu alqarhu lillatheena ahsanoo minhum waittaqaw ajrun AAatheemun

English

Ahmed Ali

Those who obeyed the call of God and His Messenger, even after they were wounded, and took heed for themselves, shall indeed have an ample reward,

172

اَلَّذِيْنَ قَالَ لَھُمُ النَّاسُ اِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ جَمَعُوْا لَكُمْ فَاخْشَوْھُمْ فَزَادَھُمْ اِيْمَانًا۝۰ۤۖ وَّقَالُوْا حَسْبُنَا اللہُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيْلُ۝۱۷۳
Allatheena qala lahumu alnnasu inna alnnasa qad jamaAAoo lakum faikhshawhum fazadahum eemanan waqaloo hasbuna Allahu waniAAma alwakeelu

Ahmed Ali

Those who were told: "They have gathered an army, beware," and their faith increased and they said: "God is sufficient for us, and the best of protectors,"
