٤٥ - ٱلْجَاثِيَة

45 - Al-Jathiya

اَللہُ الَّذِيْ سَخَّرَ لَكُمُ الْبَحْرَ لِتَجْرِيَ الْفُلْكُ فِيْہِ بِاَمْرِہٖ وَلِتَبْتَغُوْا مِنْ فَضْلِہٖ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُوْنَ۝۱۲ۚ
Allahu allathee sakhkhara lakumu albahra litajriya alfulku feehi biamrihi walitabtaghoo min fadlihi walaAAallakum tashkuroona

English

Ahmed Ali

It is God who subjugated the ocean for you so that ships may ply through it by His command, and you may seek His bounty, and may haply be grateful.

12

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمْ مَّا فِي السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِ جَمِيْعًا مِّنْہُ۝۰ۭ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَّتَفَكَّرُوْنَ۝۱۳
Wasakhkhara lakum ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi jameeAAan minhu inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yatafakkaroona

English

Ahmed Ali

He subjugated for you whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth, each and everything. Verily there are signs in this for those who reflect.

13

قُلْ لِّلَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا يَغْفِرُوْا لِلَّذِيْنَ لَا يَرْجُوْنَ اَيَّامَ اللہِ لِيَجْزِيَ قَوْمًۢا بِمَا كَانُوْا يَكْسِبُوْنَ۝۱۴
Qul lillatheena amanoo yaghfiroo lillatheena la yarjoona ayyama Allahi liyajziya qawman bima kanoo yaksiboona

Ahmed Ali

Tell the believers to forgive those who do not fear the visitations of God, so that He may requite the people for their deeds.

14

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلِنَفْسِہٖ۝۰ۚ وَمَنْ اَسَاۗءَ فَعَلَيْہَا۝۰ۡثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُوْنَ۝۱۵
Man AAamila salihan falinafsihi waman asaa faAAalayha thumma ila rabbikum turjaAAoona

English

Ahmed Ali

He who does good does so for himself; and he who does evil suffers the consequence thereof. You have then to go back to your Lord.

15

وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا بَنِيْۗ اِسْرَاۗءِيْلَ الْكِتٰبَ وَالْحُكْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّۃَ وَرَزَقْنٰہُمْ مِّنَ الطَّيِّبٰتِ وَفَضَّلْنٰہُمْ عَلَي الْعٰلَمِيْنَ۝۱۶ۚ
Walaqad atayna banee israeela alkitaba waalhukma waalnnubuwwata warazaqnahum mina alttayyibati wafaddalnahum AAala alAAalameena

Ahmed Ali

We gave the children of Israel the Book, and the judgement and the prophethood, provided them with good things, favoured them over other people,

16

وَاٰتَيْنٰہُمْ بَيِّنٰتٍ مِّنَ الْاَمْرِ۝۰ۚ فَمَا اخْتَلَفُوْۗا اِلَّا مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَاۗءَہُمُ الْعِلْمُ۝۰ۙ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَہُمْ۝۰ۭ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِيْ بَيْنَہُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَۃِ فِــيْمَا كَانُوْا فِيْہِ يَخْتَلِفُوْنَ۝۱۷
Waataynahum bayyinatin mina alamri fama ikhtalafoo illa min baAAdi ma jaahumu alAAilmu baghyan baynahum inna rabbaka yaqdee baynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehi yakhtalifoona

Ahmed Ali

And gave them a clear exposition of Our laws. And they did not differ until after knowledge came to them, through mutual jealousies. Verily your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Judgement in what they differed about.

17

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنٰكَ عَلٰي شَرِيْعَۃٍ مِّنَ الْاَمْرِ فَاتَّبِعْہَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ اَہْوَاۗءَ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ۝۱۸
Thumma jaAAalnaka AAala shareeAAatin mina alamri faittabiAAha wala tattabiAA ahwaa allatheena la yaAAlamoona

Ahmed Ali

We have put you on the right way in the matter (of divine law). So follow it, and do not follow the wishes of those who are ignorant.

18

اِنَّہُمْ لَنْ يُّغْنُوْا عَنْكَ مِنَ اللہِ شَيْـــــًٔا۝۰ۭ وَاِنَّ الظّٰلِـمِيْنَ بَعْضُہُمْ اَوْلِيَاۗءُ بَعْضٍ۝۰ۚ وَاللہُ وَلِيُّ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ۝۱۹
Innahum lan yughnoo AAanka mina Allahi shayan wainna alththalimeena baAAduhum awliyao baAAdin waAllahu waliyyu almuttaqeena

Ahmed Ali

They will not avail you in the least against God. Surely the wicked are each other's friends, but God befriends those who fear and follow the right path.

19

ھٰذَا بَصَاۗىِٕرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَہُدًى وَّرَحْمَۃٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُّوْقِنُوْنَ۝۲۰
Hatha basairu lilnnasi wahudan warahmatun liqawmin yooqinoona

Ahmed Ali

These are precepts of wisdom for men, and guidance and grace for people who believe with certainty.

20

اَمْ حَسِبَ الَّذِيْنَ اجْتَرَحُوا السَّيِّاٰتِ اَنْ نَّجْعَلَہُمْ كَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ۝۰ۙ سَوَاۗءً مَّحْيَاہُمْ وَمَمَاتُہُمْ۝۰ۭ سَاۗءَ مَا يَحْكُمُوْنَ۝۲۱ۧ
Am hasiba allatheena ijtarahoo alssayyiati an najAAalahum kaallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati sawaan mahyahum wamamatuhum saa ma yahkumoona

Do those who seek evil think that We shall make them equal in life and death to those who believe and do good? How bad is the judgement that they make!
