٢٨ - ٱلْقَصَص

28 - Al-Qasas

فَرَدَدْنٰہُ اِلٰۗى اُمِّہٖ كَيْ تَــقَرَّ عَيْنُہَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَلِتَعْلَمَ اَنَّ وَعْدَ اللہِ حَقٌّ وَّلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَہُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ۝۱۳ۧ
Faradadnahu ila ommihi kay taqarra AAaynuha wala tahzana walitaAAlama anna waAAda Allahi haqqun walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona

Ahmed Ali

Thus We restored him to his mother that she may be tranquil and not grieve, and know that the promise of God is true, though most men do not know.

13

وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ اَشُدَّہٗ وَاسْتَوٰۗى اٰتَيْنٰہُ حُكْمًا وَّعِلْمًا۝۰ۭ وَكَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِـنِيْنَ۝۱۴
Walamma balagha ashuddahu waistawa ataynahu hukman waAAilman wakathalika najzee almuhsineena

Ahmed Ali

When he had grown up to full maturity, We gave him wisdom and knowledge. Thus do We recompense the doers of good.

14

وَدَخَلَ الْمَدِيْنَۃَ عَلٰي حِيْنِ غَفْلَۃٍ مِّنْ اَہْلِہَا فَوَجَدَ فِيْہَا رَجُلَيْنِ يَـقْتَتِلٰنِ۝۰ۤۡ ہٰذَا مِنْ شِيْعَتِہٖ وَہٰذَا مِنْ عَدُوِّہٖ۝۰ۚ فَاسْتَغَاثَہُ الَّذِيْ مِنْ شِيْعَتِہٖ عَلَي الَّذِيْ مِنْ عَدُوِّہٖ۝۰ۙ فَوَكَزَہٗ مُوْسٰى فَقَضٰى عَلَيْہِ۝۰ۤۡ قَالَ ہٰذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطٰنِ۝۰ۭ اِنَّہٗ عَدُوٌّ مُّضِلٌّ مُّبِيْنٌ۝۱۵
Wadakhala almadeenata AAala heeni ghaflatin min ahliha fawajada feeha rajulayni yaqtatilani hatha min sheeAAatihi wahatha min AAaduwwihi faistaghathahu allathee min sheeAAatihi AAala allathee min AAaduwwihi fawakazahu moosa faqada AAalayhi qala hatha min AAamali alshshaytani innahu AAaduwwun mudillun mubeenun

He came to the city when the people were in a care-free mood, and saw two men quarrelling, one belonging to his community, the other to his enemies. The man who belonged to his community appealed for help against the one who belonged to the enemies. Moses struck him a blow with his fist and finished him off. "This is of Satan's doing," he said. "He is certainly an enemy and a corrupter."

15

قَالَ رَبِّ اِنِّىْ ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِيْ فَاغْفِرْ لِيْ فَغَفَرَ لَہٗ۝۰ۭ اِنَّہٗ ہُوَالْغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِيْمُ۝۱۶
Qala rabbi innee thalamtu nafsee faighfir lee faghafara lahu innahu huwa alghafooru alrraheemu

English

Ahmed Ali

"O Lord," he prayed, "I have done wrong, forgive me." And God forgave him. Verily He is forgiving and kind.

16

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَاۗ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ فَلَنْ اَكُوْنَ ظَہِيْرًا لِّلْمُجْرِمِيْنَ۝۱۷
Qala rabbi bima anAAamta AAalayya falan akoona thaheeran lilmujrimeena

Ahmed Ali

(Moses) said: "O Lord, as You have been gracious to me I will never aid the guilty."

17

فَاَصْبَحَ فِي الْمَدِيْنَۃِ خَاۗىِٕفًا يَّتَرَقَّبُ فَاِذَا الَّذِي اسْتَـنْصَرَہٗ بِالْاَمْسِ يَسْتَصْرِخُہٗ۝۰ۭ قَالَ لَہٗ مُوْسٰۗى اِنَّكَ لَغَوِيٌّ مُّبِيْنٌ۝۱۸
Faasbaha fee almadeenati khaifan yataraqqabu faitha allathee istansarahu bialamsi yastasrikhuhu qala lahu moosa innaka laghawiyyun mubeenun

In the morning he came to the city, fearful and hesitant. Just then he who had asked him for help the day before called out for help (again). "You are indeed a meddlesome fellow," Moses said to him.

18

فَلَمَّاۗ اَنْ اَرَادَ اَنْ يَّبْطِشَ بِالَّذِيْ ہُوَ عَدُوٌّ لَّہُمَا۝۰ۙ قَالَ يٰمُوْسٰۗى اَتُرِيْدُ اَنْ تَــقْتُلَنِيْ كَـمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْسًاۢ بِالْاَمْسِ۝۰ۤۖ اِنْ تُرِيْدُ اِلَّاۗ اَنْ تَكُوْنَ جَبَّارًا فِي الْاَرْضِ وَمَا تُرِيْدُ اَنْ تَكُوْنَ مِنَ الْمُصْلِحِيْنَ۝۱۹
Falamma an arada an yabtisha biallathee huwa AAaduwwun lahuma qala ya moosa atureedu an taqtulanee kama qatalta nafsan bialamsi in tureedu illa an takoona jabbaran fee alardi wama tureedu an takoona mina almusliheena

Then as he was about to lay hands on the one who was their common enemy, he cried out: "O Moses, do you want to kill me as you killed that person yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and no peacemaker."

19

وَجَاۗءَ رَجُلٌ مِّنْ اَقْصَا الْمَدِيْنَۃِ يَسْعٰى۝۰ۡقَالَ يٰمُوْسٰۗى اِنَّ الْمَلَاَ يَاْتَمِرُوْنَ بِكَ لِيَقْتُلُوْكَ فَاخْرُجْ اِنِّىْ لَكَ مِنَ النّٰصِحِيْنَ۝۲۰
Wajaa rajulun min aqsa almadeenati yasAAa qala ya moosa inna almalaa yatamiroona bika liyaqtulooka faokhruj innee laka mina alnnasiheena

Ahmed Ali

There came a man running from the other part of the city. "O Moses," he said, "the chiefs are deliberating to kill you. Go away from the city. I wish you well."

20

فَخَـــرَجَ مِنْہَا خَاۗىِٕفًا يَّتَرَقَّبُ۝۰ۡقَالَ رَبِّ نَجِّــنِيْ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظّٰلِـمِيْنَ۝۲۱ۧ
Fakharaja minha khaifan yataraqqabu qala rabbi najjinee mina alqawmi alththalimeena

Ahmed Ali

So he left the city, fearful and hesitant, (and) prayed: "O Lord, deliver me from these wicked people."

21

وَلَمَّا تَوَجَّہَ تِلْقَاۗءَ مَدْيَنَ قَالَ عَسٰى رَبِّيْۗ اَنْ يَّہْدِيَنِيْ سَوَاۗءَ السَّبِيْلِ۝۲۲
Walamma tawajjaha tilqaa madyana qala AAasa rabbee an yahdiyanee sawaa alssabeeli

Ahmed Ali

Then as he turned his face to Midian, he said: "Maybe my Lord will show me the right way."
