٧ - ٱلْأَعْرَاف

7 - Al-A'raf

ہُوَالَّذِيْ خَلَقَكُمْ مِّنْ نَّفْسٍ وَّاحِدَۃٍ وَّجَعَلَ مِنْہَا زَوْجَہَا لِيَسْكُنَ اِلَيْہَا۝۰ۚ فَلَمَّا تَغَشّٰىہَا حَمَلَتْ حَمْلًا خَفِيْفًا فَمَرَّتْ بِہٖ۝۰ۚ فَلَمَّاۗ اَثْقَلَتْ دَّعَوَا اللہَ رَبَّہُمَا لَىِٕنْ اٰتَيْتَنَا صَالِحًا لَّنَكُوْنَنَّ مِنَ الشّٰكِرِيْنَ۝۱۸۹
Huwa allathee khalaqakum min nafsin wahidatin wajaAAala minha zawjaha liyaskuna ilayha falamma taghashshaha hamalat hamlan khafeefan famarrat bihi falamma athqalat daAAawa Allaha rabbahuma lain ataytana salihan lanakoonanna mina alshshakireena

Ahmed Ali

It is He who created you from a single cell, and from it created its mate, that you may live as companions. When the man covered the woman she conceived a light burden and carried it about. And when she was heavy (with child) they prayed together to their Lord: "If You bestow a healthy son on us we shall truly be grateful."

189

فَلَمَّاۗ اٰتٰىہُمَا صَالِحًا جَعَلَا لَہٗ شُرَكَاۗءَ فِيْمَاۗ اٰتٰىہُمَا۝۰ۚ فَتَعٰلَى اللہُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُوْنَ۝۱۹۰
Falamma atahuma salihan jaAAala lahu shurakaa feema atahuma fataAAala Allahu AAamma yushrikoona

Ahmed Ali

But when they were given a healthy son, they started ascribing to other powers a share in what God had bestowed on them. But God is above what they ascribe to Him.

190

اَ يُشْرِكُوْنَ مَا لَا يَخْلُقُ شَـيْــــًٔـا وَّہُمْ يُخْلَقُوْنَ۝۱۹۱ۡۖ
Ayushrikoona ma la yakhluqu shayan wahum yukhlaqoona

Ahmed Ali

Do they associate those with Him who cannot create a thing, and are themselves created,

191

وَلَا يَسْتَطِيْعُوْنَ لَہُمْ نَصْرًا وَّلَاۗ اَنْفُسَہُمْ يَنْصُرُوْنَ۝۱۹۲
Wala yastateeAAoona lahum nasran wala anfusahum yansuroona

Ahmed Ali

Who can neither help them, nor help themselves?

192

وَاِنْ تَدْعُوْہُمْ اِلَى الْہُدٰى لَا يَتَّبِعُوْكُمْ۝۰ۭ سَوَاۗءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ اَدَعَوْتُمُوْہُمْ اَمْ اَنْتُمْ صَامِتُوْنَ۝۱۹۳
Wain tadAAoohum ila alhuda la yattabiAAookum sawaon AAalaykum adaAAawtumoohum am antum samitoona

Ahmed Ali

If you call them to guidance they will not follow you. It is all the same if you call them or hold your tongue.

193

اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ تَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللہِ عِبَادٌ اَمْثَالُكُمْ فَادْعُوْہُمْ فَلْيَسْتَجِيْبُوْا لَكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ۝۱۹۴
Inna allatheena tadAAoona min dooni Allahi AAibadun amthalukum faodAAoohum falyastajeeboo lakum in kuntum sadiqeena

English

Ahmed Ali

Those whom you invoke besides God are created beings like you. So call on them and let them answer your call, if what you say is true.

194

اَلَہُمْ اَرْجُلٌ يَّمْشُوْنَ بِہَاۗ۝۰ۡاَمْ لَہُمْ اَيْدٍ يَّبْطِشُوْنَ بِہَاۗ۝۰ۡاَمْ لَہُمْ اَعْيُنٌ يُّبْصِرُوْنَ بِہَاۗ۝۰ۡاَمْ لَہُمْ اٰذَانٌ يَّسْمَعُوْنَ بِہَا۝۰ۭ قُلِ ادْعُوْا شُرَكَاۗءَكُمْ ثُمَّ كِيْدُوْنِ فَلَا تُنْظِرُوْنِ۝۱۹۵
Alahum arjulun yamshoona biha am lahum aydin yabtishoona biha am lahum aAAyunun yubsiroona biha am lahum athanun yasmaAAoona biha quli odAAoo shurakaakum thumma keedooni fala tunthirooni

Ahmed Ali

Do they have feet to walk on, or hands to hold with, or eyes to see and ears to hear with? Say to them: "Call your compeers, and work out a plot against me, and do not give me time.

195

اِنَّ وَلِيِّ اللہُ الَّذِيْ نَزَّلَ الْكِتٰبَ۝۰ۡۖ وَہُوَ يَتَوَلَّى الصّٰلِحِيْنَ۝۱۹۶
Inna waliyyiya Allahu allathee nazzala alkitaba wahuwa yatawalla alssaliheena

English

Ahmed Ali

My saviour is God who has revealed this Book; and He protects those who are upright;

196

وَالَّذِيْنَ تَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِہٖ لَا يَسْتَطِيْعُوْنَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلَاۗ اَنْفُسَہُمْ يَنْصُرُوْنَ۝۱۹۷
Waallatheena tadAAoona min doonihi la yastateeAAoona nasrakum wala anfusahum yansuroona

Ahmed Ali

While those you beseech apart from Him cannot help you or even help themselves.

197

وَاِنْ تَدْعُوْہُمْ اِلَى الْہُدٰى لَا يَسْمَعُوْا۝۰ۭ وَتَرٰىہُمْ يَنْظُرُوْنَ اِلَيْكَ وَہُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُوْنَ۝۱۹۸
Wain tadAAoohum ila alhuda la yasmaAAoo watarahum yanthuroona ilayka wahum la yubsiroona

English

Ahmed Ali

When you call upon them for guidance, they do not hear. When you think they are looking at you, (in fact) they cannot see."
