٢٨ - ٱلْقَصَص

28 - Al-Qasas

فَلَمَّا قَضٰى مُوْسَى الْاَجَلَ وَسَارَ بِاَہْلِہٖۗ اٰنَسَ مِنْ جَانِبِ الطُّوْرِ نَارًا۝۰ۚ قَالَ لِاَہْلِہِ امْكُثُوْۗا اِنِّىْۗ اٰنَسْتُ نَارًا لَّعَلِّيْۗ اٰتِيْكُمْ مِّنْہَا بِخَبَرٍ اَوْ جَذْوَۃٍ مِّنَ النَّارِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُوْنَ۝۲۹
Falamma qada moosaalajala wasara biahlihi anasa min janibi alttoori naran qala liahlihi omkuthoo innee anastu naran laAAallee ateekum minha bikhabarin aw jathwatin mina alnnari laAAallakum tastaloona

Ahmed Ali

When Moses had fulfilled the term and was journeying with his family, he noticed a fire on the side of the mountain. "Wait here," he said to his family; "I have seen a fire. I may haply bring some news from there, or an ember that you may warm yourselves."

29

فَلَمَّاۗ اَتٰىہَا نُوْدِيَ مِنْ شَاطِئِ الْوَادِ الْاَيْمَنِ فِي الْبُقْعَۃِ الْمُبٰرَكَۃِ مِنَ الشَّجَرَۃِ اَنْ يّٰمُـوْسٰۗي اِنِّىْۗ اَنَا اللہُ رَبُّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ۝۳۰ۙ
Falamma ataha noodiya min shatii alwadi alaymani fee albuqAAati almubarakati mina alshshajarati an ya moosa innee ana Allahu rabbu alAAalameena

Ahmed Ali

When he drew near, a voice called out to him from the tree on the blessed spot on the right side of the valley: "O Moses, I am verily God, the Lord of all the worlds.

30

وَاَنْ اَلْقِ عَصَاكَ۝۰ۭ فَلَمَّا رَاٰہَا تَہْتَزُّ كَاَنَّہَا جَاۗنٌّ وَّلّٰى مُدْبِرًا وَّلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ۝۰ۭ يٰمُوْسٰۗي اَقْبِلْ وَلَا تَخَفْ ۝۰ۣ اِنَّكَ مِنَ الْاٰمِنِيْنَ۝۳۱
Waan alqi AAasaka falamma raaha tahtazzu kaannaha jannun walla mudbiran walam yuAAaqqib ya moosa aqbil wala takhaf innaka mina alamineena

Throw down your staff." When he saw it wriggling like a serpent, he turned about and fled without turning. "O Moses, approach," (said the Voice), "and have no fear. You will be safe.

31

اُسْلُكْ يَدَكَ فِيْ جَيْبِكَ تَخْــرُجْ بَيْضَاۗءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوْۗءٍ۝۰ۡوَّاضْمُمْ اِلَيْكَ جَنَاحَكَ مِنَ الرَّہْبِ فَذٰنِكَ بُرْہَانٰنِ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ اِلٰى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَا۟ىِٕہٖ۝۰ۭ اِنَّہُمْ كَانُوْا قَوْمًا فٰسِقِيْنَ۝۳۲
Osluk yadaka fee jaybika takhruj baydaa min ghayri sooin waodmum ilayka janahaka mina alrrahbi fathanika burhanani min rabbika ila firAAawna wamalaihi innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeena

Ahmed Ali

Put your hand inside your shirt. It will come out white without a tarnish of blame; and do not be perturbed or afraid. These are two proofs from your Lord for the Pharaoh and his nobles. They are certainly a rebellious people."

32

قَالَ رَبِّ اِنِّىْ قَتَلْتُ مِنْہُمْ نَفْسًا فَاَخَافُ اَنْ يَّقْتُلُوْنِ۝۳۳
Qala rabbi innee qataltu minhum nafsan faakhafu an yaqtulooni

Ahmed Ali

He said: "O Lord, I have killed a man of theirs, and fear they would kill me.

33

وَاَخِيْ ہٰرُوْنُ ہُوَاَفْصَحُ مِنِّيْ لِسَانًا فَاَرْسِلْہُ مَعِيَ رِدْاً يُّصَدِّقُنِيْۗ۝۰ۡاِنِّىْۗ اَخَافُ اَنْ يُّكَذِّبُوْنِ۝۳۴
Waakhee haroonu huwa afsahu minnee lisanan faarsilhu maAAiya ridan yusaddiqunee innee akhafu an yukaththibooni

Ahmed Ali

So send my brother Aaron with me as helper for he is more fluent than I with words, that he should affirm me, for I fear that they would call me a liar."

34

قَالَ سَنَشُدُّ عَضُدَكَ بِاَخِيْكَ وَنَجْعَلُ لَكُمَا سُلْطٰنًا فَلَا يَصِلُوْنَ اِلَيْكُمَا۝۰ۚۛ بِاٰيٰتِنَاۗ۝۰ۚۛ اَنْتُـمَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَكُمَا الْغٰلِبُوْنَ۝۳۵
Qala sanashuddu AAadudaka biakheeka wanajAAalu lakuma sultanan fala yasiloona ilaykuma biayatina antuma wamani ittabaAAakuma alghaliboona

English

Ahmed Ali

(And) God said: "We shall strengthen your arm with your brother, and give you power with Our signs and give you authority, so that they will not be able to harm you. Both of you and your followers will be victorious."

35

فَلَمَّا جَاۗءَہُمْ مُّوْسٰي بِاٰيٰتِنَا بَيِّنٰتٍ قَالُوْا مَا ہٰذَاۗ اِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّفْتَرًى وَّمَا سَمِعْنَا بِہٰذَا فِيْۗ اٰبَاۗىِٕنَا الْاَوَّلِيْنَ۝۳۶
Falamma jaahum moosa biayatina bayyinatin qaloo ma hatha illa sihrun muftaran wama samiAAna bihatha fee abaina alawwaleena

Ahmed Ali

But when Moses came to them with Our clear signs they said: "This is nothing but magic he has contrived, for we have not heard of this from our fathers of old."

36

وَقَالَ مُوْسٰي رَبِّيْۗ اَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ جَاۗءَ بِالْہُدٰى مِنْ عِنْدِہٖ وَمَنْ تَكُوْنُ لَہٗ عَاقِبَۃُ الدَّارِ۝۰ۭ اِنَّہٗ لَا يُفْلِحُ الظّٰلِمُوْنَ۝۳۷
Waqala moosa rabbee aAAlamu biman jaa bialhuda min AAindihi waman takoonu lahu AAaqibatu alddari innahu la yuflihu alththalimoona

Ahmed Ali

But Moses said: "My Lord knows well who has come with guidance from Him, and for whom is the guerdon of Paradise. But surely the wicked will not prosper."

37

وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ يٰۗاَيُّہَا الْمَلَاُ مَا عَلِمْتُ لَكُمْ مِّنْ اِلٰہٍ غَيْرِيْ۝۰ۚ فَاَوْقِدْ لِيْ يٰہَامٰنُ عَلَي الطِّيْنِ فَاجْعَلْ لِّيْ صَرْحًا لَّعَلِّيْۗ اَطَّلِعُ اِلٰۗى اِلٰہِ مُوْسٰي۝۰ۙ وَاِنِّىْ لَاَظُنُّہٗ مِنَ الْكٰذِبِيْنَ۝۳۸
Waqala firAAawnu ya ayyuha almalao ma AAalimtu lakum min ilahin ghayree faawqid lee ya hamanu AAala altteeni faijAAal lee sarhan laAAallee attaliAAu ila ilahi moosa wainnee laathunnuhu mina alkathibeena

The Pharaoh said: "O nobles, I am not aware of any other lord of yours but myself. So, O Haman, fire some clay (bricks) to build a tower for me that I may mount up (and see) the God of Moses; for I think he is a liar."
