٤١ - فُصِّلَت

41 - Fussilat

وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا مُوْسَى الْكِتٰبَ فَاخْتُلِفَ فِيْہِ۝۰ۭ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَۃٌ سَبَقَتْ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَہُمْ۝۰ۭ وَاِنَّہُمْ لَفِيْ شَكٍّ مِّنْہُ مُرِيْبٍ۝۴۵
Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba faikhtulifa feehi walawla kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika laqudiya baynahum wainnahum lafee shakkin minhu mureebin

English

Ahmed Ali

Verily We gave Moses the Book; but they began to differ about it. If the Word of your Lord had not preceded it the matter would have been settled between them. They are still in doubt about it and uneasy.

45

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًــا فَلِنَفْسِہٖ وَمَنْ اَسَاۗءَ فَعَلَيْہَا۝۰ۭ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِّـلْعَبِيْدِ۝۴۶
Man AAamila salihan falinafsihi waman asaa faAAalayha wama rabbuka bithallamin lilAAabeedi

English

Ahmed Ali

Whoever does good does so for himself, and whoever does wrong bears the guilt thereof. Your Lord does no wrong to His creatures.

46

اِلَيْہِ يُرَدُّ عِلْمُ السَّاعَۃِ۝۰ۭ وَمَا تَخْرُجُ مِنْ ثَمَرٰتٍ مِّنْ اَكْمَامِہَا وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ اُنْثٰى وَلَا تَضَعُ اِلَّا بِعِلْمِہٖ۝۰ۭ وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيْہِمْ اَيْنَ شُرَكَاۗءِيْ۝۰ۙ قَالُوْۗا اٰذَنّٰكَ۝۰ۙ مَا مِنَّا مِنْ شَہِيْدٍ۝۴۷ۚ
Ilayhi yuraddu AAilmu alssaAAati wama takhruju min thamaratin min akmamiha wama tahmilu min ontha wala tadaAAu illa biAAilmihi wayawma yunadeehim ayna shurakaee qaloo athannaka ma minna min shaheedin

Ahmed Ali

He alone has knowledge of the Hour (of change): No fruit comes Out of its spathe, no female conceives or gives birth, but He has knowledge of it. The day He will call them (and ask): "Where are the compeers (you ascribed to Me)?" They will answer: "We profess to You not one of us can vouch for them."

47

وَضَلَّ عَنْہُمْ مَّا كَانُوْا يَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَظَنُّوْا مَا لَہُمْ مِّنْ مَّحِيْصٍ۝۴۸
Wadalla AAanhum ma kanoo yadAAoona min qablu wathannoo ma lahum min maheesin

English

Ahmed Ali

And those they used to worship will leave them in the lurch, and they will realise there is no escape for them.

48

لَا يَسْـَٔمُ الْاِنْسَانُ مِنْ دُعَاۗءِ الْخَيْرِ۝۰ۡوَاِنْ مَّسَّہُ الشَّرُّ فَيَــــُٔـــوْسٌ قَنُوْطٌ۝۴۹
La yasamu alinsanu min duAAai alkhayri wain massahu alshsharru fayaoosun qanootun

Ahmed Ali

Man never tires of praying for good; but if evil assails him he begins to despair.

49

وَلَىِٕنْ اَذَقْنٰہُ رَحْمَۃً مِّنَّا مِنْۢ بَعْدِ ضَرَّاۗءَ مَسَّـتْہُ لَيَقُوْلَنَّ ھٰذَا لِيْ۝۰ۙ وَمَاۗ اَظُنُّ السَّاعَۃَ قَاۗىِٕمَۃً۝۰ۙ وَّلَىِٕنْ رُّجِعْتُ اِلٰى رَبِّيْۗ اِنَّ لِيْ عِنْدَہٗ لَــلْحُسْنٰى۝۰ۚ فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا بِمَا عَمِلُوْا۝۰ۡوَلَــنُذِيْقَنَّہُمْ مِّنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيْظٍ۝۵۰
Walain athaqnahu rahmatan minna min baAAdi darraa massathu layaqoolanna hatha lee wama athunnu alssaAAata qaimatan walain rujiAAtu ila rabbee inna lee AAindahu lalhusna falanunabbianna allatheena kafaroo bima AAamiloo walanutheeqannahum min AAathabin ghaleethin

Ahmed Ali

If We give him a taste of Our favour after some distress he has known, he says: "It was my due. I cannot imagine the Hour will come. And even if I go back to my Lord, there will surely still be the best for me with Him." We shall tell those who do not believe what they used to do, and inflict on them a heavy punishment.

50

وَاِذَاۗ اَنْعَمْنَا عَلَي الْاِنْسَانِ اَعْرَضَ وَنَاٰ بِجَانِبِہٖ۝۰ۚ وَاِذَا مَسَّہُ الشَّرُّ فَذُوْ دُعَاۗءٍ عَرِيْضٍ۝۵۱
Waitha anAAamna AAala alinsani aAArada wanaa bijanibihi waitha massahu alshsharru fathoo duAAain AAareedin

Ahmed Ali

When We show Our favours to man he moves away and turns aside; but when in trouble he prays a great deal.

51

قُلْ اَرَءَيْتُمْ اِنْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللہِ ثُمَّ كَفَرْتُمْ بِہٖ مَنْ اَضَلُّ مِمَّنْ ہُوَفِيْ شِقَاقٍؚبَعِيْدٍ۝۵۲
Qul araaytum in kana min AAindi Allahi thumma kafartum bihi man adallu mimman huwa fee shiqaqin baAAeedin

English

Ahmed Ali

Say: "Just think. If this is from God and you deny it, who will be in greater error than he who is in open dissent?"

52

سَنُرِيْہِمْ اٰيٰتِنَا فِي الْاٰفَاقِ وَفِيْۗ اَنْفُسِہِمْ حَتّٰى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَہُمْ اَنَّہُ الْحَقُّ۝۰ۭ اَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ اَنَّہٗ عَلٰي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَہِيْدٌ۝۵۳
Sanureehim ayatina fee alafaqi wafee anfusihim hatta yatabayyana lahum annahu alhaqqu awalam yakfi birabbika annahu AAala kulli shayin shaheedun

Ahmed Ali

We will show Our signs to them in the horizons of the external world and within themselves, until it becomes clear to them that it's the truth. Is your Lord not sufficient? He is a witness over all things.

53

اَلَاۗ اِنَّہُمْ فِيْ مِرْيَۃٍ مِّنْ لِّقَاۗءِ رَبِّہِمْ۝۰ۭ اَلَاۗ اِنَّہٗ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُّحِيْطٌ۝۵۴ۧ
Ala innahum fee miryatin min liqai rabbihim ala innahu bikulli shayin muheetun

Ahmed Ali

In truth they are in doubt that they will ever face their Lord. Do they not know that He surrounds all things?
