San Gabriel is a city in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California. The idea for the Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley (ICSGV) was conceived in the late 1970s and came to spectacular fruition in 2013. This Islamic center is a community pillar that educates and influences the spiritual growth of local Muslims. It began with rented spaces such as the local school's library, a gymnasium, and even units in a commercial strip mall to accommodate eager learners of all ages.
In 2013, with the collective effort of the local Muslim community, ICSGV was finally able to complete a transformative construction project to erect the 45,000-square-foot structure complete with a full-time private K-12 Islamic School, a preschool for ages 3-5, a Saturday Arabic School, a Youth Program, Sunday Islamic School (PreK-12), a mortuary, a health clinic, and a library.

One of the most essential aspects of Islam is its tradition of congregational prayers. AbudDarda' (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) narrated that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "If there are three men in a village or in the desert among whom prayer is not offered (in congregation), the devil has got the mastery over them. So observe (prayer) in congregation), for the wolf eats only the straggling animal." In another hadith, the beloved Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) relates the rewards and benefits of performing the daily prayers with the congregation. AbuHurayrah (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) narrated, The Prophet (ﷺ) said: whoever performs ablution, and performs his ablution perfectly, and then goes to the mosque and finds that the people had finished the prayer (in congregation), Allah will give him a reward like one who prayed in the congregation and attended it; The reward of those who prayed in the congregation will not be curtailed. (Grade: Sahih (Al-Albani) Sunan Abi Dawud 564)
